About me

My name is Marcia and music has been a significant part of my life for many years. I play several instruments squeezed between university studies, working, reading and looking after Roly.

About eight years ago, a weekend workshop to make a cardboard harp was advertised in the local paper. I thought that looked interesting and attended the weekend which also included learning to play some simple tunes on the finished harp. From that moment, I was hooked on harps.

A short time later, I wanted a harp with a few extra strings to play a wider range of music, so I visited the harp teacher’s house when she had some lap harps for sale on behalf of others. I tried a few of them, but it was the big, blue, Andrew Thom lever harp sitting innocuously in the corner that kept catching my eye. It looked and sounded beautiful. I decided I wanted it, so, if it fitted in the car, I would buy it. It fitted. I bought it, and I have not regretted that moment of impulse buying. I love playing the harp and enjoy making music with other harpists.

This website was developed to share my love of harp music for a web presence assignment in Web Communications. Feel free to explore some of my favourite harp sites on Delicious, photos in Flickr, books in LibraryThing or leave a message for me using Twitter.
